North Shore Tramping Club
There’s something for everything with this trip. Join us in giving back to a really cool, beautiful island in the Hauraki Gulf, where we’ll enjoy helping with the planting or working in the nursery. Then we have a walk before heading back to the ferry for the return trip. There are tuataras on the island, and of course lots of native birds and historic sites. If you haven’t been on a planting day before, they usually provide sausages at lunchtime, and tea or coffee.
Gear: Make sure all your gear, including your pack and especially your boots, are scrupulously clean, adhering to the island’s biosecurity. Keep in mind that you’re heading to a treasure island. Bookings: To receive a volunteer card, which makes you eligible to receive a discounted fare, please register on the NSTC website by Tuesday, 1 May, or contact Imogen (organiser).
