Mt Kaitarakihi is the impressive peak that is first spotted as you cross the Hauraki Plains towards Thames.
We start our tramp up this 852m peak from the summit of the Kopu Hikuai Rd. The first part is a gentle climb thru beautiful forest before the final much steeper section to the summit. There are some cables in place to assist on the steeper rock section. Great views from the top.
