North Shore Tramping Club
MUSICK POINT, BUCKLANDS BEACH - LOW TIDE Depart: The Strand, Takapuna. 8:00 AM
To my knowledge the Club hasn't ever done this as a tramp, so something new!
Starting at Half Moon Bay Marina, we'll head along a boardwalk that connects into the beginning of this foreshore adventure. We'll be heading around the end of the headland on the foreshore below Musick Point, taking in some very interesting geology in the eroding cliff faces. When we pass the Point, there are 5 pinch points, that require a bit of scrambling & wading through the water making the most of the low tide at 10.56am approximately. For variety once we've completed the point and beach walking, we'll head for tracks inland & bush and a 200 metre road connection across to open area & back to the bus.
(It would be a preferable to wear either trail shoes, or old running shoes & have some full fingered cycling gloves or the like to protect your hands if needed from some patches with Oysters on the rocks. Shorts or leggings that dry quickly would be ideal. PLEASE don't wear slow drying clothing.)
This will be a very picturesque tramp, quite fun, only suitable for sure footed experienced trampers, due to the pinch points. There will be only one group today, possibly two if there's a big group. NOTE EARLIER START TIME!! Cost: • Members $10 • Non Members $15 (experienced trampers) • Juniors $5 Organiser: Imogen (Roger 094190552 & Vivian in my sted)
