North Shore Tramping Club
The North Shore Tramping Club has undertaken to clear one of the many tracks in the Kaimai Ranges administered by the Kaimai Ridgeway Trust.
Several previous trips undertaken by members have enabled nearly half of the track to be cleared between Wairere Falls to the junction of the North South Track. The track runs north from the top of the Wairere Falls to a junction near Aongatete.
We are currently clearing the section from the Aongatete – North South Track Junction to the Saddle meeting the Waierere Falls track.
Are you able to help on the next trip? The work is not difficult. All you need is some good garden gloves. The Club has a full complement of tools to tackle the job.
It will be an ideal time because the rain has softened the ground, and enable grasses and plants can be pulled out with ease, as we have previously experienced. As there are no cabins, tents are required (available for loan from the club if required for current financial NSTC members). There is an abundance of clean water available in the streams.
When: We will travel down to the carpark at the Aongatete Road end (located at the end of Wright Rd off SH2 near Katikati), early on the Friday morning and return Sunday afternoon.
Depart: 7:30am, Friday morning (FRIDAY) Corner 6 Auburn Street & Como Street carpark, Takapuna
Return: Sunday afternoon
