North Shore Tramping Club
Whether you are an experienced tramper or a novice newbie looking to join a really friendly, very well established, organised club with a huge variety of ages, this is the day for you! We'll have different group distances to suit different fitness as usual. We'll start very promptly at 8am to catch the low tide at about 9.25am and head north towards Hauraki along the foreshore and then cross over to the other side of the Peninsula to cover the tracks that side, including shaded bush tracks. Leaving the best to last, up and over both North Head and Mt Victoria, including some of the historic tunnels and amazing views! Will add in an area that the club doesn't normally do. Then back to Narrow Neck Beach for a relaxing, cooling swim on the high tide, ice cream or coffee and socialising. Please note the foreshore will be slippery and uneven. Expect to walk approximately 4-5 hours. Please bring: torch, swimming gear, ample food and cold water and day pack.
Comfortable trail shoes or running shoes you don't mind getting dirty or that are washable will be ideal. If joining us for this event, as with all tramps, please ensure that all your gear, especially footwear is scrupulously clean before and cleaned after. Bring a headlight, torch or your phone to light up the tunnels and bring a change of footwear for after to get into good regular after tramping habits. Departure / Meeting point: - 7.45am to get everyone registered, we will depart at 8am sharp!!! - Under the Pohutukawa to the left of the Narrow Neck Cafe, Old Lake Road, Narrow Neck, North Shore.
