North Shore Tramping Club
Extra tramp - due to Sunday's weather forecast, we've scheduled this for Saturday to entice more of you out to enjoy the bush.
Meet at the car park at Little Shoal Bay at 9.00am. To switch things up a bit, we'll run this tramp in reverse of what we normally do, so we see different things, including looking out over the sea views at Kendall Bay. We will head through Le Roys Bush to start and then through the impressive Kauri Glen Reserve and head up and over the ridge and drop down towards Chatswood, Chelsea Estate Heritage Park and all the lushness of the bush tracks and beautiful sea views from the high points and beach, where we hope to time it right for lunch and maybe a quick cooling swim before lunch on the incoming tide, as the water temperature is already up to a warm 21 or 22 degrees in the afternoon! And working our way back to Le Roys Bush a different way from the way we started. Expect to walk about 4-5 hours, in mixed terrain. As the ground should still be bone dry, trail shoes, tramping boots, or even running shoes should be fine. PLEASE ENSURE ALL YOUR GEAR IS ABSOLUTELY CLEAN, AS WE ARE PASSING THROUGH KAURI'D AREAS & PASSING ENDS OF TRAILS THAT ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. AS IT'S GETTING QUITE WARM NOW, PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE AMPLE WATER.
Depart: 9.00 am, from the big car park at Little Shoal Bay Beach Reserve beside Maritime Terrace/Council Terrace.
Organiser: Imogen Hewlett, 027 289 8440 (no texts please newbies, please phone)
Cost: Free tramp today. Bus not being used.
