North Shore Tramping Club
More tracks have recently re-opened after extensive track re-surfacing in the stunning heavily forested Huia area of the Waitakere Ranges, Karamatura Track, Donald McLean Track and Mt Donal McLean Tracks.
As most of these areas have been closed for a few years due to Kauri Dieback, many of our newer members will enjoy along with established club members getting into this area of the Waitak's.
There are also pretty streams along the way and nearer the start that should still be flowing after Thursday's rain.
The views from the top of Mt Donald McLean are pretty epic too! Total altitude achieved upon completion is 551 metres.
** PLEASE ensure that all of your gear is clean, poles, boots, bag etc, as always before and again afterwards and especially as we're in the Waitakere Ranges and we will be passing Kauri'd areas. With fresh, clean footwear and clothing on the bus for afterwards and fully cleaned afterwards. Only come out with us if you are well Bring warm clothing as we will endeavour to keep the bus well ventilated. You are welcome to use your face mask and hand sanitiser on the bus There will be a COVID-19 QR code available for scanning
