Great Barrier Island - Easter

EASTER 2021

We have two  Out Party spaces available due to changed circumstances.  If you are a fit member with an established history in the Club and with nothing planned for Easter get in touch.

Join us for a trip to Great Barrier Island with lots of birds, native bush and marine wildlife!

Home party

• • Stay in accommodation in shared bunk rooms (4 bunks) on Medlands Beach. The Backpacker supply your linen - only a beach towel is required. Fully equipped kitchen and solar power - take a torch as bathrooms a short walk away.
    
  • This party will have two rental vans to get around the island, and to pick up/drop off the out party.
  • Cost $435

Out/Distance party - Tent required

• • Day 1 - transport Tryphena to Okupu. Walk from Okupu to Whangaparapara (1 - 1.5 hour). Camp at the DOC Green campsite.   There is an option to walk up the road to the hot pools.

  • Day 2: Whangaparapara to Port Fitzroy/Kaiaraara Hut (4–4.5 hours).

  • Day 3: Port Fitzroy/Kaiaraara Hut to Mt Heale Hut (4 hours). Lots of side tracks if anyone gets bored.

  • Day 4: Back out to Whangaparapara (3–3.5 hours). Pick up to Tryphena.

Pier 21, Westhaven Marina. Meet at 8.30am, Hauraki Express boat departs at 9.00am, arrives Tryphena approx. 11.30 am.
