North Shore Tramping Club
Kariotahi Beach to Port Waikato
Online - Registration for financial members only, non-member please phone organiser:
Tramping along this spectacular beach and coastline exposed to the wilds of the Tasman Sea. You'll spot all sorts of things during our tramp, sea birds, wrecked car bodies, interesting geological sandstone cliffs, a small waterfall with the soothing sounds of the waves crashing onto the sand and maybe some lounging seals and much more. We'll head south to the Port Waikato entrance and return, approximately 20kms, 5 hours approximately.
Running shoes or Trail running shoes would be most suitable for this tramp. Don't forget your camera, camera phone and swimming gear and a light weight towel (not a heavy full sized bath towel) if you are game for a June swim. ** For pickups for financial members from Greenlane pickup point please register via the site or contact the organiser. Newbies/non-members must phone the organiser please. ** Please bring plenty of water as there is no potable water along the way. *** Please ensure your gear is fully scrubbed and cleaned ready for the day and bring a change of footwear and bag for afterwards on the bus trip back, to help protect and prevent Kauri Dieback. * Only come out with us if you are well. * You are welcome to use your face mask and hand sanitiser and sanitiser is available as you enter our bus. * There are COVID-19 QR Codes available for scanning on the bus. * Please stay away if you have arrived into NZ in the last month.
