Come along for one of the most spectacular coastal walks in this area. Options include a sidetrack or return via the beach if the tide is favourable. Don’t forget to bring your togs if you're keen for a Spring swim. Don't forget your camera or phone camera, as the views are stunning, including the massive stone arch!
Fairly low tide is 11:10am. The Medium party will go up both lookouts at Mangawhai Beach and the Distance party will do an additional track from the top lookout. Approximate elevation gain is 300 metres, and approximately 400 metres for the Distance Party. Along the cliff track one way is approximately 8.5kms. The surface will be uneven, especially over the bouldery foreshore. Best for people who are stable on small, wobbly bouldery surfaces. There quite a few very steep, longish flights of stairs that climb up to the cliff track. Views are definitely worth the climb and a good workout! This tramping adventure is a segment of the Te Araroa Walkway.
