MANGAWHAI-TE ARAI-PAKIRI BEACH

Taking in part of the Te Araroa trail, from the end of Pacific Road we head down onto the fabulous long stretch of beach and coastline.There is potentially one stream crossing at the beach so tides depending, prepare for wet feet. Following the coastline we take the track over Te Arai Point, heading off the beach into the forestry for a short way before continuing to walk along the beach until lunch time which will be our turn-around point, returning the same way back to the bus. Never fear, the view from the other way is just as awesome and the return trip will give you a chance to even up your tan.
Hopefully we will shore birds nesting on the beach; this is a Scientific Wildlife Reserve area and is home to several native species.
Trail shoes are suitable for this walk.
If time permits, there will be an opportunity to visit Bennett’s of Mangawhai Chocolate Shop for a little chocolate/retail therapy before heading back to Auckland.www.bom.co.nz

9.00 am Silverdale Bus Station. **For pickups at Silverdale, please register via the site or contact the trip organiser.
