North Shore Tramping Club
2 tramps on western side of Coromandel Peninsula
Waiomu Kauri Grove (morning) - from Waiomu, this return track follows a stream through native bush before climbing to one of finest remaining kauri stands. There is a sidetrip option to visit the old Monowai Goldmine battery site. To prevent kauri dieback, ensure that all footwear is clean.
Rocky's Walk to Tinker's Gully (afternoon) - from Tararu, the track climbs steeply before flattening out along a ridge with views of the Firth of Thames. From the high point it decends steeply into Tinker's Gully where it passes a few old mines as it follows a small stream back to the road. A faster group may wish to carry on to Thames.
