8am start, Due to the North shore Marathon the new pick up destination will be 43A Barry's Point rd Takapuna, Causeway Panel Beaters. Plenty of free parking available.
The Waharau ridge track has recently been upgraded against the fight of Kauri die back, so I would imagine this will be a well graded track with views over the Firth of Thames. We will start from the Whakatiwai Regional Park, as the name suggest it’s a ridge track so you can expect some hill climbing to get ourselves up on to the ridge for some views. Approximately 3.5 hours.
If time permits, we will stop of in the heart of Clevedon on our return and do the Puriri & Totara track this is a small loop track approximately 45 minutes involving another hill climb and stairs up threw some lovely regenerating Puriri & Nikau Forest to a lookout. This is truly one of greater Auckland’s hidden little gems.
