Fairy Falls & Waitakere Dam, Waitakere Ranges

Fairy Falls Track, as many will know has been closed for a quite a few years.  The track has been recently resurfaced and now re-opened in the last month, so this is our opportunity to get back into the Waitakere Ranges!

Fairy Falls is known for being an absolutely stunning waterfall, with quite a special light through the towering Kauri.  Although the waterfall is only approximately 15 metres high, it's a photographers favourite.  In the past it never failed to make the way to the bottom of the steep flight of steps and see a photographer there with a professional camera and tripod.  Join us to see why & bring your phone or camera!

As it's only a short walk down to Fairy Falls, we will do more distance around the lovely Waitakere Dam tracks, possibly towards Cascades Kauri tracks depending how we go for time.

As most of the tracks we will be treading are graveled or board walked so shouldn't be slippery, we will have some sharp climbs to get the lungs and legs working.

It goes without saying that will be passing through Kauri groves, so please ensure that ALL your gear, especially footwear, is absolutely clean & remember to bring spare shoes in a bag for the return trip. 

PLEASE NOTE, EARLY DEPARTURE, so we can secure a suitable carpark, due to the limited parking available there.
