North Shore Tramping Club
PLEASE NOTE THIS TRIP IS MONDAY!!!!!!! Please register by 12 noon Sunday
Let's make the most of the long weekend Public Holiday and get out tramping! The council has been going for soft re-opening of some tracks, so they're not over run, especially tracks like the Kuataika Track with very limited car parking. So initially we'll park Big Yellow at the start of the Rose Track and a short walk to the start of Kuataika. For those that have been around a while will remember this is a steep track, so now it will be a steep track with lots of steps and a good workout! Once we've explored here we'll head to the end of Anawhata Road and drop down onto the picturesque Anawhata Beach and maybe head along the stream, depending how we're going for time. But hopefully we'll have time for a swim, so make sure you've got your swimming gear on or with you so you will have a chance to cool down and warm up again on the walk back up to the carpark.
Due to the steepness of this general area, you're going to need a decent level of fitness. Approximately 5 hours tramping, maybe a bit more. Very important, PLEASE ensure all your gear is VERY clean, as Piha and Anawhata are Kauri'd areas, so as always ensure you thoroughly clean your gear afterwards as there is Dieback in this area!! And please ensure you have spare footwear in the bus for the trip back, so no dirt is transferred!!!
