You won’t want to miss this Epic Adventure! Out party trampers will require off track tramping skills, and navigation skills, carry tents, & be of GOOD FITNESS! You’re going places that you won’t see many other people!
Safety briefing meeting will be held Friday at the lodge. All party members must always stay together and within sight.
Weve got bad weather contingencies if the weather doesn’t play ball!

We have plenty of options for you on the upper slopes of the mountain, bring extra money if you would like to try the Sky Waka gondola! Below are several options, we will have a meeting 5.00pm night before to discuss and decide events for the next day.
Whakapapaiti Valley: From Scoria Flats car park head to Whakapapaiti hut then follow the Mangahuia track to the Mangahuia campsite, or after crossing the Whakapapaiti river (This river is not bridged so you will get wet feet), turn right and take the Whakapapaiti valley track then The Silica rapids track. Easy
Stanton Memorial loop: From Scoria Flats car park, this will involve off track tramping and we will see if we can locate the Stanton memorial, we should get some great views. Approx 5-6 hours.

Saturday: From Whakapapa head up to Tama Lakes and cross between the two Lakes following the ridge line to Pt1562 Tama hill, you will get spectacular views from this point, drop down the valley to camp at Waihouhounu Springs. 5-6 hours.
Sunday: Head towards and join the Waihononu - Oturere track and make your way past the Oturere hut and cross Oturere Stream above the waterfall, you will by now have entered the Te Tatau-Pounamu Wilderness area! head up to the saddle between Pt1767 and Pt1673 then head down to the waterfall, skirt this on the true left down to the Mangahouhouni Stream, at the fork take the true right of the stream heading North and camp at the Mangahouhounui basin. Allow for 6-7 hours.
Monday: Climb up to Te Mari and Rotopaunga, to descend Blue Lake and take the Tongariro Crossing track to Keteahi car park and bus. 5hours.
Note: If the weather necessitates indoor accommodation, an additional fee will apply, or you may sleep on the bus if it is configured for sleeping mode.
