Waitakere Ranges! Mercer Bay, Pararaha Valley Return
This trip is stunning on a fine day or wet day, the West Coast never disappoints!
Please ensure correct cash $20 members/$25 non members
We start at the Radar station at the end of Log Race Road and head to the stunning Mercer Bay lookout. The lookout provides views of some of our typical rugged West Coast beaches from the highest cliffs in the Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) region. We then follow the Comans track, observing the views along the way, and an area from the opening scene of the movie The Piano was filmed, before reaching the quaint settlement of KareKare. From there, we proceed south along the beach to the Tunnel Beach campsite, and further to Pararaha Bay, and campsite. From this point, we retrace our steps back to the bus.
