Te Rereatukahia Hut Kaimai Range Mini Weekend.

We have booked the hut out for this one! If you are new to the Club and want to experience an overnight tramp to a character little hut, then this one is for you!

Hut has running water - you will need your own cooking gear and sleeping bag.

Bus departure will be from Como Street at 8.00am Saturday 14^th March

(Fit)

Saturday: From Wairorongomai take the Pylon track up and over Pahiko and then the Old North South track, this track is still reasonably marked but good navigation skills will be needed, some great views along the way to arrive at Te Rereatukahia Hut. Expect about 9 hours.

 (Medium)

Saturday: After dropping the Fit party off, head to Wairakau Road and take the Tuahu track to climb the range and then head in a North-West direction on the North South track to Te Rereatukahia Hut and grab the best bunks! Side options will include a trip up Mt Baldy or a detour on the way towards Motutapere Hut, expect about 5 to 6 hours max.

The Tuahu track history; This track has been used since the 1890s for an east-west crossing linking Katikati and Te Aroha.

Sunday: Both parties head down the way the medium party come up the day before to the bus with a stop off at Te Aroha for refreshments.
