Join us to explore parts of the Bethell's Beach area that you may not have visited before, including access to private areas of Bethells and making the most of the last of the low tide, with high tide at 11.46am.
We'll also head over to the 1km long Lake Wainamu for a swim in the fresh water lake that's surrounded by large native forest and native birds zooming arouond and passing the unreal massive black sand inland sand dune that's been on many films and tv adverts.
We may choose to walk up or down the stream to the late.
We'll explore the large awesome sea cave on the main beach too.
This is a very picturesque area and a club favourite!
You'll need reasonable fitness as we will be walking mostly on sand and there is one fairly decent climb on hard surface.
We'll be tramping approximately 4-5 hours on sandy surfaces and uneven rocky surfaces.
Grippy trail runners or tramping boots would be most suitable. You will need some grip on the sand.
Tramping pack, or a day pack or school pack, please not shopping bags. You need two free hands!
We're hoping that it's sunny so those that are keen might like to partake of a swim in the lake & possibly on the beach if the conditions are suitable & the lifeguards are on duty.
If you are keen for swimming, have your swimwear on under your tramping clothes. Bring a small, lightweight tramping towel, sarong to change in and a change of undies so you're not tramping back to the start wet.
As always please ensure that all your gear is very clean, footwear, bag, walking pole etc.
Please also bring a change of footwear for the bus trip back and a bag to put your dirty footwear into and please clean all your gear thoroughly when you get home as good standard practice.
