This one involves a steep climb and descent which will test your cardiovascular performance - BUT WELL WORTH THE EFFORT! Bring lots of water.

On a fine day you will be rewarded with a fine view down the Kaimai range, and out to the west Mt Pirongia, south to Mt Ruapehu, and into tomorrow.
We will start this one at the Te Aroha Domain, immediately climbing up Bald Spur on the Mount Te Aroha Track to the summit at 953 meters. This is the highest point in the Kaimai Range - a total climb of about 900 meters! After a well-earned rest, the plan will be to head down the Tui Mine Track and onto the Tui Domain Track, completing a loop back to the bus. There will also be the option of returning down the Bald Spur track for those wishing for a shorter option, if numbers allow.
Please make sure you have adequate clothing even, on a warm day as the summit is exposed, and of course plenty of water.
